6b Bonus – Do Germans Care About Geopolitics and Geoeconomics?

Show notes

Are everyday Germans willing to pay the “National Security Premium” to be less dependent on authoritarian countries like Russia and China? In this bonus episode, we speak with Jan Eichhorn about his recent research that suggests that the answer to that question is yes, they are. We also speak to him about what kind of messages the German public wants to send to their leaders on foreign policy more generally. Research from the independent ‘d|part’ think tank suggests Germans want leadership on geoeconomics and geopolitics but that German politicians need to go the extra mile to make the links that will take people with them as they pursue better policy directions.
